What business uses batch number?
Generally , Pharmaceutical , food business manufacturer or vehicle parts manufacturer ( air bags, braking parts)
Scenario :
For example you buy a packet of ready to eat meal. When you open the packet it is smelly and rotten even before the expiry date. You feedback to the supermarket about this. The supermarket calls the manufacturer to return all the stock. The manufacturer verified and apologizes for the mistake and assures that only the batch number B0128 is the spoiled one. They have already identified the issue and are recalling all the stock with this batch number
Almost all businesses use an inventory software to generate and use batch and serial numbers. Managing batch numbers using excel sheets is highly difficult and error prone. Businesses with small operations can manage inventory using excel sheets but as they grow a specialized software can make a huge difference in operational efficiency.
Goods (stocks) that require tracking, especially pharmaceutical or consumable products require batch number and expiry date, when control and movements is of importance.
At [Stock Setup] , click [Stock Master]
Click [Add]. You should see [Batch No?] box for you to indicate if the stock require batch number.
